Senior Director of Accounting | Fashion | Hybrid

A well-established, wholesale/retail company is seeking a Senior Director of Accounting to lead key accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This leadership role will partner cross-functionally across the organization, drive process improvements, and oversee critical accounting areas in a fast-paced environment.

This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid work schedule.

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing leadership, mentorship, and process guidance across multiple business channels.
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, supply chain, and sales teams to improve financial visibility and support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment for complex retail and wholesale arrangements, including discounts, returns, allowances, and vendor agreements.
• Oversee inventory accounting, reserves, and cost accounting processes, including coordination with third-party manufacturers and distribution partners.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with audit requirements, SOX (if applicable), and company accounting policies.
• Drive process improvements, systems implementations, and automation initiatives to scale accounting operations with company growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 12-15 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition
• Experience in consumer products, wholesale, distribution, or related industries
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Salary: $170,000 – $225,000 + Bonus
