Overview

IDESCO, Division of Avery Products Corporation is looking for an Assistant Controller who will support the Controller in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate local accounting, timely reconciliations, and compliance with corporate reporting requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting audits, and providing insights that drive informed business decisions.

What you will be doing

Local Accounting & Close Activities
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of financial transactions.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, including cash, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany, prepaid expenses, and accrual accounts.
  • Resolve discrepancies and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
Corporate Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare and submit financial reports required by corporate headquarters, ensuring alignment with corporate accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP/IFRS).
  • Consolidate local financial results into corporate reporting templates and systems.
  • Assist with variance analysis and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
  • Coordinate with corporate finance on reporting requirements, deadlines, and policy updates.
  • Support preparation of audit schedules and liaise with internal auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in strengthening control environments.
Financial Analysis & Support
  • Provide support in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Generate periodic financial statements and management reports for local leadership.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with business case modeling and ad-hoc financial projects.
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with ERP system updates, enhancements, and data integrity improvements.
  • Develop and document accounting procedures, workflows, and best practices.
What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including both local statutory accounting and corporate reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (US GAAP/IFRS) and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across local and corporate teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Working Conditions
