Currently, they are looking to add an Accounts Payable Specialist to their team.
Salary/ Hourly Rate
$25/hr - $40/hr (commensurate with experience)
Position OverviewThe Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in supporting the organization’s finance function by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative nonprofit environment and is committed to maintaining strong financial controls and compliance.
Responsibilities Of The Accounts Payable Specialist- Process high-volume invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and verify invoices and payment requests for appropriate documentation and approvals.
- Manage vendor setup and maintain accurate vendor records.
- Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments.
- Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Assist with month-end close, including accruals and reporting.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and nonprofit accounting standards.
- 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and grant tracking.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct, Net Suite, or Quick Books.
- Exposure to month-end close processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
