Accountant, Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting

THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-09. At the GS-07 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence.

You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-09. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducts daily examination of various accounting transaction listings, cost reports, financial statements, project fund balances, and work orders to ascertain accuracy and completeness of data;
Directs the assignment of project and cost codes, accounting classification and file maintenance and provides information for transmitting data to appropriate office;
Evaluates General Ledger account balances;
Assists in controlling financial operations by controlling obligations and/or expenditures within limitations established by appropriation, allotment, apportionment work allowance, and purposes authorized by public law;
Manages summary cost accounts verifying validity and accuracy of accounting transactions and data;
Recognizes significant account variances and assists higher level staff in the proper research and reconciliation of all accounting records;
Performs other duties as assigned
