Staff Accountant

LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant to work in Suffolk County onsite. This can be a direct hire or temp to hire opportunity and can pay $75K. Client will also consider more entry level candidates who are willing to learn with advanced Excel skills and accounting degree.

• Record and post journal entries while ensuring accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
• Support monthly and annual close processes, including account analysis and adjustments
• Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies as needed
• Provide support across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions during peak periods
• Assist with cost tracking and financial management for project-based or operational initiatives
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and variance reporting
• Maintain adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and organizational policies
• Partner with internal teams and provide documentation to support audit and compliance activities

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems (mid-size platforms preferred)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach

$28.00 to $32.00 per hour
