VP Financial Reporting

Location: New York, NY (In-Office)

Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 + Bonus

A growing real estate investment and operating platform is seeking an experienced Controller / VP Financial Reporting to lead property accounting and financial reporting across a multifamily portfolio in New York City. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing the full financial close process while managing a distributed team of property accountants.

The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership, asset management, and operational teams, with a strong focus on financial reporting, compliance, process improvement, and scaling accounting systems in a fast-paced environment.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple properties and legal entities
• Review and approve property-level financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance and reporting accuracy
• Independently review and sign off on property financial reporting and regulatory filings
• Manage, mentor, and develop a distributed team of 8–10 property accountants, including remote and offshore staff
• Oversee reconciliations including bank accounts, security deposits, taxes, and intercompany balances
• Partner closely with Asset Management to analyze variances, performance trends, and NOI drivers
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions across the portfolio
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and external stakeholder requests
• Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and strengthen internal controls
• Build and enhance reporting tools and financial analysis using Microsoft Excel
• Serve as the lead administrator for Yardi and support systems optimization initiatives
• Oversee preparation and review of NYC regulatory filings, including TC and RPIE filings
• Independently review and sign off on RPIE filings

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 8+ years of accounting experience, with strong real estate industry experience required
• Prior leadership experience managing accounting teams, including remote and offshore staff
• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and property-level financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with NYC regulatory filings, including TC and RPIE
• Strong understanding of audits, lender reporting, and financial compliance requirements
• Highly organized with strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

• Prior experience within NYC multifamily real estate
• Experience working with outsourced accounting teams
• Strong exposure to lender reporting and investor-facing financial deliverables
