We are seeking an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to oversee our day‑to‑day accounting operations. We are a NYC based mid‑size residential general contracting firm. This is a leadership role for a detail‑oriented professional who can work alongside other departments, own the month‑end close process, and serve as a reliable financial partner to senior leadership.
The right candidate is organized, analytical, and capable of building and improving accounting processes as the organization grows.
What You’ll Do- Manage the full cycle of accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Lead and supervise all accounting processes, providing guidance and performance oversight
- Own the month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L reports
- Oversee bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (Acumatica preferred, Sage, Timberline or similar)
- Experience with month‑end close, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
