Job Overview
Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees. Provide assistance in entering and paying all wage garnishments. Process property payroll transfer reports. Ensure benefits deductions are accurate. Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity. Provide support to leadership team for various other accounting-related projects.
Education RequirementHigh School Diploma/GED required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Quick Books and Pay Choice or Payroll Associates experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- 1 year experience.
- FPC or CPP certification preferred.
- Onsite at Jacobi Hospital, 35 hours per week, 1 hour lunch, flexible schedule required every other Friday (6a-2p or 10a-6p).
- At least 2 years experience in payroll processing (i.e., Garnishments, Taxes, Year End activities).
- Analytical skills related to retro calculations of pay and time required as well as the ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- HS Diploma required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Payroll Processing: Accurately calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions, including tax with holdings, garnishments, and benefits (401k).
- System & Records Management: Maintaining updated employee files, inputting data into HRIS/payroll systems, and managing time‑and‑attendance records.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements (e.g., W-2s).
- Reconciliation & Auditing: Balancing payroll records, reviewing tax filings, and assisting with audits.
- Employee Support: Resolving pay discrepancies, answering questions regarding paychecks, and handling payroll inquiries.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. Specifically looking for Oracle Cloud, Peoplesoft, and ADP.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and calculations to avoid legal or financial errors.
- Confidentiality: Ability to manage sensitive, confidential employee data.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Understanding of labor laws, tax codes, and payroll compliance.
- Communication: Effective communication with HR, finance, and employees.
- Prior experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field is often preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
