Property Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant with 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in overseeing a portfolio of entities consisting of condominiums, cooperatives, and rental properties.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for general ledger accounting for condo/coop and rental buildings ensuring that gl classifications are accurate and gl balances tie to monthly reconciliations/work papers.
  • Responsible for cash management and oversight/payments of critical payments, including but not limited to, mortgage payments, real estate taxes, utilities, and insurance.
  • Reconciliation of bank balances throughout the month.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements (both cash and accrual) and other ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Preparation of the annual budgets.
  • Interaction with the accounts payable and receivables teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of recording, collections and payments.
  • Communication with owners, board, lender and other third party as needed related to financial inquiries.
  • Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and assist with audit preparations.
  • Support accounting and management team members.
  • Experienced in transitioning in new entities.
  • Other related accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant experience in the industry will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Able to juggle multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Experience with real estate management software. Yardi and App Folio property management software preferred.
