Job SummaryThe Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for supporting financial operations by processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with audit preparation activities. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a professional office environment. The ideal candidate will possess experience with accounting software, financial reporting, and accounts payable processes while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Job Responsibilities- Process and maintain accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and recorded
- Reconcile company bank statements and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status reports
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with annual audit preparation and related financial reporting activities
- Utilize accounting software to process invoices, payments, and financial data
- Support compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and GAAP standards
- Work independently to manage daily accounting and administrative responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding financial documentation and payment processing
- High School diploma or GED required; additional accounting coursework preferred
- Experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or general accounting functions preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience using accounting software and financial systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to reconcile financial records and bank statements accurately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in accounts payable, accounting support, or financial administration preferred
- Experience assisting with audits and financial reporting activities preferred
