Responsibilities
Kforce's client, a well-established, mission-driven organization in New York, is seeking a Grant Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with grant accounting experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and thrives on managing multiple funding sources while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts from inception through reporting and billing
- Prepare accurate financial reports and reimbursement requests for government and private funding sources
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, funding regulations, and organizational policies
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and expense allocations
- Respond to grant-related financial inquiries from internal stakeholders and funding partners
- Assist with grant monitoring, desk audits, and financial documentation
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and special projects
- Maintain grant and contract databases and assist with reporting as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
- 2‑3+ years of grant accounting or fund accounting experience
- Strong understanding of grant compliance and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally
- Experience with grant management systems, budgeting, or nonprofit accounting is a plus
- Familiarity with audit support and regulatory compliance is preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
