Technical Accounting Senior Manager, OCFO-FS

OverviewAs a Senior Manager in our Office of the CFO Accounting Advisory practice, you will specialize in advising clients on complex technical accounting matters, with a strong emphasis on financial services, digital assets, and fintech sectors. Your expertise will guide CFOs, controllers, and finance leaders through accounting complexities, transactions, and emerging financial technologies.
Responsibilities- Serve as a senior advisor to clients on technical accounting issues such as financial instruments, derivatives, securitizations, and digital assets, including:
- Consolidation (ASC 810)
- Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)
- Leases (ASC 842)
- Business Combinations (ASC 805)
- Current Expected Credit Loss (ASC 326)
- Impairments (ASC 350/360)
- Share‑based payments (ASC 718)
- Lead advisory engagements on accounting policy development, restatements, audit readiness, and financial statement preparation.
- Supervise, develop and train junior team members on engagements.
- Participate actively in team project work and collaborate directly with partners on client and engagement management.
- Strengthen existing client relationships and develop new business opportunities by providing outstanding client service and expanding across other functional areas.
- Communicate with business owners, executive management, investors, lenders and other sophisticated parties to ensure delivery of exceptional client service.
- Anticipate client needs, questions, and issues, and be accessible to clients.
- Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events.
- Assist with recruiting activities, including campus recruiting and employee referral programs.
- Contribute to firm’s talent efforts by mentoring senior and staff associates.
- Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude, and high ethical standards.
- Lead by example to positively impact employee morale and contribute to an inclusive culture.
- Set and achieve profitability, billing, and collection objectives while managing risk.
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues across the office, service lines, and project teams.
- Identify opportunities to add value to clients through additional firm services.
- 8+ years’ experience in a large accounting firm’s audit or financial advisory service line focused on the financial services industry.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience mentoring and counseling associates.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field – Master’s preferred.
- CPA required; CFA or other relevant certifications a plus.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and/or IFRS standards.
- Proficiency in accounting and finance tools and concepts to facilitate analysis.
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- High motivation, initiative, and positive attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities.
- Advanced modeling and Excel skills, with experience conducting complex quantitative and qualitative financial analysis and generating data‑driven insights.
- Strong ability to work autonomously, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting analyses to management and leading initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of client personnel across various industries.
- Comfortable interacting with senior client personnel, including supporting executive briefings.
- Versatile professionals who can take on new responsibilities and listen to clients to get things done.
- Technical accounting experience combined with broader controllership and operational experience, including finance transformation.
- Strong relationship‑building, negotiation, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Confident leaders with a curious mind and the ability to solve complex issues.
The pay rate range for this position is $224,720 to $327,850, influenced by relevant factors such as skills, experience, and location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
