Atlantic Group is hiring a Nonprofit Accounting Manager in the Bronx, NY for our client. In this temporary role, you will oversee grant accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, reconciliations, and compliance for government-funded programs. The Nonprofit Accounting Manager will also analyze budget-to-actual results, support audits, manage cash flow projections, and partner with program leadership to maintain strong fiscal oversight across multiple grants.
Responsibilitiesas the Nonprofit Accounting Manager:
- Grant Accounting: Manage monthly grant reconciliations, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with funding requirements and government contracts.
- Budget Management: Develop program budgets, prepare budget modifications, support forecasting, and maintain accurate budget data in the general ledger.
- Financial Reporting: Analyze budget-to-actual variances, prepare financial reports, and provide fiscal guidance to program leadership.
- Cash Flow & General Ledger: Prepare cash flow projections, process expense reallocations, reconcile receivables, and maintain accurate general ledger activity.
- Audit & Compliance: Support financial and Single Audit preparation, maintain grant documentation, and partner with program teams on fiscal procedures and compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit accounting experience is required, including grant accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of government-funded programs, grant compliance, city contracts, and nonprofit accounting standards is required (experience with federal grants and Single Audit preparation is preferred).
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, and experience with Intacct, Nexonia, or similar accounting or ERP systems is preferred. - Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams are essential.
