Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a team in Jamaica, New York and support day-to-day payment operations with accuracy and strong attention to detail. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling high-volume invoice activity, maintaining organized financial records, and helping ensure vendors are paid correctly and on time. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders to review documentation, resolve discrepancies, and keep accounts payable processes running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper supporting documentation before processing
- Assign the correct accounting codes to invoices and enter payment details into the accounts payable system
- Prepare and coordinate check runs to ensure vendors receive timely and accurate payments
- Investigate invoice discrepancies by working with internal departments and suppliers to clarify missing or incorrect information
- Maintain organized records of invoices, approvals, and payment activity for audit and reporting purposes
- Monitor outstanding items and follow up on pending approvals to keep payment workflows on schedule
- Support routine accounts payable tasks while helping improve consistency and accuracy across invoice processing activities Requirements - Experience supporting accounts payable functions in a clerical or accounting environment
- Ability to code invoices accurately and process a high volume of transactions with close attention to detail
- Familiarity with preparing check runs and managing vendor payments within established timelines
- Working knowledge of invoice processing procedures and standard financial documentation practices
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams
- Proficiency with basic accounting systems and standard office software applications
