About the Opportunity

We're seeking an ambitious Assistant Controller to join a growing finance team. This individual will work closely with the CFO and Controller, playing a key role in the company's financial operations, reporting, and internal controls. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a future Controller position.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will support all aspects of accounting and financial reporting while helping strengthen internal processes and drive operational improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization.

• Lead the monthly close process and support the implementation of an efficient monthly "soft close."
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and manage interfaces between operational systems and the general ledger.
• Manage intercompany accounting and consolidations across multiple legal entities.
• Prepare monthly management reporting packages and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Support external auditors during annual audits and year-end financial reporting.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and assist with developing and enforcing financial policies.

Operational Finance & Business Partnership

• Analyze financial results and provide meaningful insight into operational performance, including margin analysis, expense trends, and year-over-year variances.
• Partner with the CFO and Controller to develop rolling forecasts, financial projections, and management reporting.
• Assist in preparing financial information for executive leadership, banking partners, and other external stakeholders.
• Support project managers by providing financial reporting and operational information to help monitor project performance.
• Serve as a trusted backup to senior finance leadership across a variety of accounting and finance functions.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, automation, and internal controls.
• Recommend solutions that streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
• Leverage technology, reporting tools, and AI where appropriate to improve financial analysis and decision-making.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4-9+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager level responsibilities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, financial analysis).
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems (Intuit Enterprise Suite or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain financial results, not simply prepare them.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization.
