- Lead and oversee all finance and accounting operations for Kadokawa World Entertainment, Anime News Network, and Kadokawa Retail Ventures.
- Produce and review standalone and consolidated financial reporting packages, including narratives and variance analysis.
- Direct and oversee all accounting operations to include but not limited to A/R, A/P, Cash, T&E, cost accounting, accruals, settlements, inventory reconciliations, journal entries, bank reconciliations, financials, royalties, etc.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process for all entities.
- Prepare and deliver quarterly and annual consolidation and reporting packages for internal and external auditors and Group HQ in Japan.
- Ensure all transactions and financial statements are prepared accurately and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Draft and prepare annual budgets, reforecasting, mid‑term financial planning, and flash forecasts, and advise business management to support fiscal goals.
- Oversee retail finance activities, including inventory valuation and reserves, cost of goods sold, margin analysis, vendor and logistics accounting, and store and e‑commerce sales reporting.
- Design, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across all entities.
- Oversee tax compliance, including quarterly and year‑end filings and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and review of general ledger entries, account and intercompany reconciliations, and month‑end accounting activities.
- Improve performance by evaluating processes across various teams and service providers to drive efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.
- Exercise confidentiality and use this information only for the purpose of achieving the tasks above on a need‑to‑know basis.
REQUIRED:
- BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent.
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred and/or CPA preferred.
- 8 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Fluent in Japanese preferred.
- Knowledge of finance, cost accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS).
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamic GP or major ERP system preferred.
- Excellent analytical and organization skills, strong attention to details.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Excel.
