We are seeking an experienced Director of Wholesale Accounting to lead the accounting operations for our wholesale business. This strategic leadership role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, overseeing complex accounting functions, and driving process improvements across the organization.
As a key member of the Finance team, you will partner closely with FP&A, Operations, IT, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support business growth. This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing high-performing teams while driving operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Lead all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the wholesale business, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee complex accounting areas including inventory reserves, production overhead capitalization, wholesale sales deductions, revenue recognition, and gross profit analysis.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, IT, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable to support strategic initiatives and improve business processes.
- Lead the preparation of financial reporting required for the company's asset-backed lending facility.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact during internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requests.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Mentor, coach, and develop accounting team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Lead special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives that support the continued growth of the business.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly revenue recognition.
- Experience with in wholesale distribution, apparel, accessories, or consumer products is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; SAP experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, implementing systems, or leading process transformation initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
