Position: ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOUNTANT
Location: New York

we are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized bank reconciliation administrative accountant to join our finance team in general ledger department. The bank reconciliation supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely reconciliation of all organizational bank accounts. This role ensures compliance with internal controls, supports audit requirements, and supervises staff performing reconciliation and cash management activities. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting cross-departmental coordination.

responsibilities
  • review and approve monthly bank reconciliations for 59 accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • monitor and follow up on all reconciliation open items; coordinate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • supervise daily bank statement interfaces and automated reconciliation processes within the cash management system for multiple accounts.
  • oversee daily reconciliation of rent collection bank statements against rent deposits recorded in as/400 tenant account files.
  • download and maintain monthly bank statements for reconciliation and analysis purposes.
  • review journal entries prepared by staff prior to submission for final approval.
  • prepare and distribute worksheets related to daily bank deposits, workers’ compensation, and section 8 receipts for the revenue & receivables department.
  • prepare and file annual new york state sales tax forms.
  • provide monthly reporting on miscellaneous revenue receipts and workers’ compensation to the payroll department.
  • support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and analysis.
  • supervise, mentor, and evaluate two accountants within the bank reconciliations unit.
  • generate and maintain reports, including:
  • unapplied account miscellaneous receipts report.
  • monthly gl balance vs. Bank balance reconciliation schedules.

minimum qualifications
  • a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing, and four years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work;

    or
  • a valid new york state certified public accountant license and at least 18 months of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work.
preferred skills
  • bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required).

    - minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, including bank reconciliations.

    - prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

    - strong knowledge of oracle general ledger systems and reconciliation processes.

    - experience with cash management tools preferred.
