An exciting opportunity has arisen with an early-stage, venture-backed, Series A B2B Health Tech startup that's transforming how healthcare providers deliver care. Having recently secured its first institutional funding, the business is now bringing its finance function in-house and is looking to hire its Founding Accountant to partner directly with the VP of Finance.
This is a unique opportunity to become the company's second dedicated accounting hire, taking ownership of building scalable financial operations from the ground up. You'll play a key role in establishing accounting processes, implementing controls, managing the transition from outsourced accounting, and laying the financial foundations needed to support future fundraising and rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities- Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage the transition of the finance function from an outsourced provider to an in-house operation.
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, billing and general ledger activities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Build and implement accounting policies, internal controls and scalable finance processes from the ground up.
- Partner closely with the Head of Finance on budgeting, cash flow forecasting and board reporting.
- Manage external auditors, tax advisors and bookkeeping partners.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and support technical accounting matters.
- Lead finance systems implementation and automation initiatives as the business scales.
- Partner with Product, Operations and Commercial teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
- Support future fundraising, due diligence and investor reporting.
- CPA qualification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a VC-backed startup or high-growth technology business.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and hands-on ownership of the month-end close.
- Experience bringing accounting processes in-house or building finance processes within an early-stage or fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Net Suite, Quick Books or other modern cloud-based ERP systems.
- Highly organized, proactive and comfortable operating with ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple functions.
