Sr. Accountant

Location: Woodbury

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing team in New York. This role is well suited for someone in finance with a strong accounting foundation, hands-on project-based experience, and a background in construction or engineering environments. The ideal candidate brings sound technical accounting knowledge, works confidently across the general ledger, and is comfortable using Deltek or a comparable enterprise accounting platform.

Responsibilities:

- Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing financial activity, and helping ensure accurate and timely reporting.

- Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions properly and supporting the integrity of account balances.

- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation and alignment to accounting standards.

- Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding items.

- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to keep cash activity current and accurate.

- Support project-related accounting tasks, including tracking financial activity tied to contracts, jobs, or client engagements.

- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial information, clarify account activity, and improve reporting accuracy.

- Utilize Deltek or a similar global accounting system to manage financial records and support day-to-day accounting operations. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including work at a senior or project accountant level.

- Prior experience in the construction or engineering industry is strongly preferred.

- Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.

- Experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.

- Proficiency with Deltek or a comparable enterprise accounting system is required.

- Ability to analyze financial data, resolve issues efficiently, and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
