Location: New York

LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a Real Estate Development & Investment firm to fill a Junior Property Accountant position in Midtown, Manhattan. We are seeking an individual with at least 1 year of previous Real Estate or Property Management industry experience. This role is open due to growth and the team is excited to welcome, train, and mentor a new junior professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements for assigned properties as well as support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Record and reconcile daily cash receipts, deposits, and disbursements.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy.
  • Assist with tenant billing, rent collections, and lease administration accounting.
  • Analyze variances and research accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and audit preparation.
  • Collaborate with property managers and other departments to resolve financial issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
  • 1+ years of accounting experience within real estate or property management space.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work Schedule
  • 4-5 days in office in Midtown, Manhattan. Must be available to do 5 days.
  • 8:30 - 5:30 PM, 40 hour work week with occasional overtime during busier times (month end, audit season)
