Senior Accountant @ Sports Media

Coda Search is partnering with a prominent sports media company headquartered in New York. Over the past 10 years, this dynamic organization has grown rapidly through its unique approach to sports media marketing and partnering up with some of the best up-and-coming and established talent across the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. The team is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant for its corporate accounting team who will play a key role in the monthly close process, balance sheet reconciliations, financial forecasting, and monthly analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of preliminary financial statements.
• Maintain and oversee the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and financial schedules.
• Review and analyze revenue recognition entries in accordance with ASC 606 and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Forecast, monitor, and track cash flow, while identifying and explaining key variances.
• Review customer invoicing processes and contractual agreements to ensure accurate revenue recognition and reporting.
• Perform detailed variance and fluctuation analyses to support business decision-making.
• Assist with the preparation and coordination of the annual audit.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and ensure adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• ASC 606/revenue recognition experience is a plus
• Prior experience in media, entertainment, or production industries is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
• Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
