This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to expand their exposure to SEC reporting, technical accounting, financial reporting, SOX, investor relations, and Board-level reporting
.
The team is open to candidates coming from a variety of backgrounds, including public accounting, public/private combinations, or large corporate accounting environments
. Direct SEC reporting experience is a plus, but not required - the team is willing to train someone with a strong accounting foundation who wants to grow into these areas.
This position will have broad visibility across the organization and the opportunity to contribute ideas around improving and streamlining existing reporting and accounting processes.
Responsibilities:- Assist with the preparation and coordination of SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, Proxy Statements, and related disclosures
- Prepare financial schedules, work papers, analyses, and supporting documentation for quarterly and annual financial reporting
- Support the preparation of subsidiary financial statements and related disclosures
- Assist with quarterly disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with current GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Support stock administration activities, including Form 4 filings, dividend payments, and internal share-count schedules
- Help maintain compliance with applicable SEC and NYSE reporting requirements
- Partner with internal departments and external vendors to gather financial and non-financial information for reporting
- Provide support for internal and external audit requests and SOX 404 compliance
- Participate in the preparation of financial reporting packages for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors
- Coordinate with external partners on press releases and support certain investor relations activities
- Perform competitive and peer-company analyses
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting, reporting, and financial analysis projects
- Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline existing accounting and reporting processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of professional accounting experience
- Background in public accounting and/or a large corporate accounting environment
- Candidates coming from national, regional, or larger mid-size public accounting firms are encouraged to apply
- Experience with publicly traded companies, SEC clients, or exposure to 10-K / 10-Q reporting is a plus, but not required
- Real estate industry exposure is a plus
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to take ownership of work and deliver accurate results
