Controller - Film/Production Company Well-established Film & Production company is seeking a hands‑on Controller, who will be responsible for the financial operations of a privately held creative production company and family office. Primary focus is cash management, forecasting, multi‑entity accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, with responsibility for family office and property‑related finances.
Responsibilities:- Own short- and long‑term cash flow forecasting, daily cash management, and liquidity planning.
- Oversee multi‑entity accounting, including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial reporting.
- Manage production job costing, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Oversee payroll and HR administration, including domestic/household employees and multi‑state compliance.
- Manage family office bill pay, personal expenses, property expenses, insurance, taxes, and capital projects.
- Manage banking, treasury, credit cards, and financial controls.
- Coordinate with outside CPAs, attorneys, wealth managers, insurance brokers, and other advisors.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, controls, and processes.
- Oversee tax compliance and contract administration.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of family and business financial information.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/controllership experience within film/production, entertainment, family office/high net worth, real estate, or a similar industry.
- CPA a plus
- Strong experience with cash management, forecasting, and multi‑entity accounting.
- Experience with basic HR functions, including payroll / multi‑state compliance as well as onboarding.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Proficiency with Quick Books and Excel.
- Experience working directly with leadership and outside advisors.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, discreet, and able to work independently.
