A partner firm of Elevate located in Union Square, New York City is seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join its growing team. This role is ideal for a tax professional with 3-5 years of public accounting experience who enjoys working with a diverse client base and preparing a variety of tax returns. The successful candidate will assist with tax compliance, tax planning support, client communications, and year-round tax-related projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for:
- Corporations (C-Corp and S-Corp)
- Partnerships
- Trusts and Estates (preferred)
- Prepare tax work papers and supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial statements, general ledgers, and client records to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Research tax issues and assist with resolving tax notices and compliance matters.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information and address tax-related questions.
- Assist with tax planning projects and special engagements.
- Maintain current knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
- Collaborate with firm leadership and team members to meet deadlines during busy seasons.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of public accounting tax experience.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
- CPA license or active CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience with multi-state tax filings.
- Experience working with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
- Exposure to tax planning and consulting engagements.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Strong client service mindset.
- Collaborative team player.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the firm.
