Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Property Accountant for our client, supporting the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role is responsible for full-cycle property accounting, financial statement preparation, and partnering with property management and asset management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational excellence. The ideal candidate has commercial real estate accounting experience, strong technical accounting skills, and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilitiesas the Senior Property Accountant:
- Financial Reporting: Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process while preparing financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- General Ledger Accounting: Record journal entries, accruals, amortization, recurring adjustments, and maintain accurate general ledger activity.
- Property Accounting: Reconcile bank accounts, escrow accounts, security deposits, and cash activity while preparing CAM, operating expense, and real estate tax reconciliations.
- Lease & Capital Accounting: Review tenant billings, lease information, capital expenditures, construction activity, and fixed asset records to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
- Budgeting & Analysis: Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, lender reporting, audit support, and tax preparation activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with property management, asset management, leasing, and finance teams while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 3–7+ years of commercial real estate or property accounting experience is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP is required. Experience with CAM reconciliations, tenant recoveries, and financial reporting for multiple legal entities is preferred.
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with Yardi Voyager, MRI, Real Page, or similar property management software is strongly preferred. - Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. CPA certification or public accounting experience is preferred.
