Senior Accountant

Queens-based global real estate developer is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This role is pivotal in supporting new development projects, enhancing financial systems, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. • Prepare financial statements for a diverse real estate portfolio, including monthly/year-end closings.
• Support the Controller in financing new developments and documenting GAAP-compliant internal controls.
• Develop and tailor accounting/finance systems to meet evolving business needs.
• Oversee core accounting functions: general ledger management, bank reconciliations, AP/AR, and documentation of transactions.
• Perform financial analyses on assets and liabilities; prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Collaborate on construction accounting and manage draw requisitions for ongoing ground-up development projects.
• Coordinate with Property Management to analyze budgets, monitor annual spending, and assist with budget preparation.
• Conduct variance analysis, expense reviews, and acquisition feasibility assessments.
• Assist in year-end audits and tax return preparations; provide work papers to external auditors.
• Deliver insights and financial recommendations to improve resource allocation and flag inefficiencies.

• 5+ years of accounting experience; real estate industry experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;
  Master’s preferred.
• CPA designation is a plus.
• Proficiency in Yardi, MRI, Timberline, JD Edwards, and Avid Xchange.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
