The grant accountant is responsible for monitoring the receipt and expenditure of grant funds. This position also includes assisting with any of the federal and state required financial reporting where applicable. This position works closely with and reports directly to the controller and CFO.
Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Assists grant managers with financial information in the preparation of grant proposals
- Preparation of monthly expenditure reports to be distributed to program managers
- Assist with preparation of monthly/quarterly vouchers
- Prepare contract budgets and supporting schedules as well as budget modifications
- Preparation and posting of monthly journal entries pertaining to grant activities
- Researching of account variances and preparation of correcting entries
- Provide budget variance reports to grant managers when needed
- Assist in performance of annual audit and preparation of audit
- Tracks fixed asset purchases with grant funds
- Preparation of regulatory filings (i.e. federal grant reporting requirements – FFR)
- Monitoring of time and effort spent on various contracts and grants
- Where applicable, put together information requested for agency audits (i.e. invoices, payments, time and effort schedules, timecards)
- Reports and communicates to grant managers
- Heavy involvement with grant time and effort reporting via large excel worksheets
- Monitoring and follow up on grant and contract receipts and balances in receivable
- Experience working with the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) is preferred but not required
- Experience with federal grant reporting software such as the Payment Management System is preferred but not required
- Ability to build internal and external relationships in order to achieve results
- Good organization skills and attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make informed and timely decisions, and use sound judgment to prioritize actions
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
