Location: New York

A growing fractional CFO and finance services firm partners with growth-stage CPG and SaaS companies to provide strategic financial leadership, audit-ready accounting and decision-ready financial reporting. The firm operates as an embedded finance team for its clients, combining the discipline of an in-house controller with the perspective of experienced CFOs.

The practice is in an exciting stage of growth, and the person joining this role will have an opportunity to help shape processes, standards and the way the firm serves its clients.

The Role

As the Finance & Accounting Manager
, you will be the operational engine behind client engagements. You will oversee month-end close, weekly accounts payable, cash flow management and the financial models and reporting packages that provide clients with clarity and confidence in their numbers.

You will work closely with senior leadership and serve as the day-to-day finance lead across a portfolio of CPG and SaaS clients.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close

  • Own the end-to-end month-end close process across multiple client engagements
  • Oversee accounting resources and technology to execute bank reconciliations, revenue entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure books close on a consistent cadence with appropriate controls and review procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized and audit‑ready work papers

Accounts Payable

  • Oversee weekly AP processes including vendor management, bill approvals, payment runs and reconciliations
  • Manage offshore resources and/or accounting technology supporting AP activities
  • Establish scalable, efficient and auditable AP workflows

Financial Modeling and Reporting

  • Build and maintain three‑statement financial models including the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statement
  • Prepare monthly budget‑to‑actual reporting with meaningful variance analysis
  • Translate financial data into clear, executive‑ready insights for client leadership
  • Support financial planning and forecasting initiatives

Cash Management

  • Maintain and update rolling 13‑week cash flow forecasts for clients
  • Monitor liquidity and working capital
  • Identify and communicate cash flow risks and opportunities to senior leadership and clients

Client and Practice Operations

  • Serve as a trusted day‑to‑day finance contact for client finance and operations teams
  • Work directly with founders, executives and other client stakeholders
  • Help improve and standardise accounting and finance processes
  • Document processes and develop playbooks that support the firm's continued growth
  • Help establish best practices that can be scaled across future client engagements
Required Qualifications
  • CPA license or international equivalent such as CA or ACCA
  • 4+ years of finance and accounting experience
  • Experience owning a full‑cycle month‑end close
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining three‑statement financial models, including cash flow statements
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Proficiency with modern accounting and FP&A tools such as Quick Books Online, Net Suite, , Ramp, Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Experience managing offshore bookkeeping resources or outsourced accounting teams
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to move comfortably between strategic and hands‑on work
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with CPG and/or SaaS companies
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Experience with inventory and COGS accounting
  • Experience implementing or migrating accounting systems
  • Experience working directly with founders and executives
  • Experience in a fractional CFO, outsourced accounting or professional services environment
What Success Looks Like First 90 Days
  • Fully ramped on existing client books and close processes
  • Independently managing the weekly AP cycle for active clients
  • Established baseline 13‑week cash flow forecasts for each engagement
  • Developed strong relationships with clients and internal leadership
  • Identified opportunities to improve existing accounting and finance processes
First 6-12 Months
  • Month‑end closes are consistently delivered on schedule with clean, auditable work papers
  • Clients receive timely and accurate monthly reporting packages that support decision‑making
  • Three‑statement financial models and cash flow forecasts are maintained consistently
  • Documented playbooks for close, AP, modelling and forecasting are implemented across the practice
  • Processes are scalable and positioned to support continued growth in both clients and team members
