Position: Tax Manager / Vice President, Tax
Location: New York

Our client, a leading alternative investment firm in New York City, is seeking a Tax Manager / Vice President, Tax to oversee all tax compliance activities for their management company, funds, and special purpose vehicles. This senior‑level role is responsible for coordinating the preparation, review, and filing of returns across complex multi‑entity structures, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations.

The position partners closely with the Managing Director of Tax and works cross‑functionally with accounting, legal, investor relations, and external advisory teams, with a focus on process optimization and leveraging technology for operational improvement.

The annual base salary range is $175,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from the posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the end‑to‑end tax compliance cycle for all business entities, including U.S. and international partnerships and corporations
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of external tax advisors and administrators on returns, K‑1s, income provisions, estimates, and complex entity filings
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all required tax filings (1065, 1120, 1120‑REIT, FBAR, PTE, FATCA/CRS, and non‑U.S. forms), including payment and reporting of estimated taxes
  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities as needed and support tax audits
  • Liaise internally with accounting, legal, investor relations, and other departments to streamline the exchange and accuracy of tax information
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of process enhancements, automation, and technology within the tax function
  • Support complex tax structuring for financial instruments, real assets, and various transaction types
Job Requirements
  • 7–11 years of experience in tax—public accounting or a mix of public/private, with a focus on financial services (private equity, private credit, or real estate experience highly valued)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with U.S. tax compliance for partnership and corporate structures; exposure to international filings is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and comfortable operating independently and in collaborative team settings
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
