Audit Intern, Temporary

• Assist with audits in the field and in the office under the supervision of DOR auditors and management
• Assist in issuing Nebraska tax assessments based on audit results
• Perform research and data analysis by searching through all applicable sources
• Assist with other projects as assigned
• Complete meaningful work while building new skills and connections and exploring career paths within state government

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution)
• The Department of Revenue does not sponsor STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) (Form I-983) or non-immigrant work visas for this position
• Attach a copy of transcripts
• Knowledge of accounting principles, business administration, and business communications
• Skills in use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Ability to work independently, plan effectively, and maintain efficiency in workflow; work with a team under a work lead; learn and adapt quickly to new assignments
• Preferred: 12 hours of post-secondary accounting; familiarity with Microsoft Office, SQL, or other programming experience; exposure to state tax programs

Demonstrates knowledge of accounting principles and business administration while effectively utilizing Microsoft Excel for data analysis and research. Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team to support audit processes and state tax assessments.
