Location: Long Island City
Senior Accountant
Our client, a well-known Construction firm in New York, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its team!
Responsibilities- Own and coordinate the monthly financial close process
- Prepare and post journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly accruals, prepaids, allocations, and recurring entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payroll, and other balance sheet accounts
- Prepare supporting schedules and assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting
- Analyze income statement and balance sheet fluctuations and investigate variances
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, client billing, collections, and job cost accounting as needed
- Prepare audit support documentation and respond to auditor requests
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes and strengthen internal controls
- Assist with accounting system enhancements, ERP implementations, and general accounting projects
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally as a Staff Accountant or Senior Staff Accountant
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
- Experience preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
