Whitecap Search is looking for a skilled professional to join a dynamic finance and grants management team. Responsibilities- Manage an assigned portfolio of grants, overseeing revenue, expenses, budgets, reporting deadlines, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate and timely grant administration.
- Review grant financial reports and invoices for accuracy, proper coding, completeness, and compliance with government funding requirements, private foundation requirements, and grant agreements.
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries and accounting allocations, including grant revenue and expense accruals, indirect cost allocations, adjustments, and other grant-related transactions.
- Monitor grant financial activity and compliance, identifying discrepancies, unusual transactions, budget variances, and potential issues while ensuring expenses are allowable and properly supported.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Program, Legal, Development, and Finance, on contract registration, grant requirements, financial reporting, documentation, and resolution of grant-related issues.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by analyzing actual revenue and expenses against budget, preparing projections, and assisting with ad-hoc reporting requests.
- Support audits and funder reviews, including desk audits and the annual Single Audit under Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance, by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to audit requests.
- Improve grant accounting processes and controls by maintaining accurate grant records, strengthening financial compliance, supporting process improvements, and ensuring accounting documentation remains complete and audit‑ready.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience in accounting, grant accounting, nonprofit accounting, or a closely related function.
- Experience working with government grants and/or private foundation funding preferred.
- Knowledge of grant accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with the OMB Uniform Guidance and Single Audit requirements is strongly preferred.
