We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Payroll Accounting Manager.

In this role, the successful candidate as the Payroll Accounting Manager will be instrumental in the development and redesign payroll policies and processes that will enhance and ensure strong internal controls, integrity of all payroll data, prevent fraud and ensure accuracy and compliance for all payments, salary, benefits and tax filings originating from payroll;
Help implement a robust review process to track progress and find ways for improvements;
Provide memoranda and other communications as needed to document payroll related processes, policies, tax issues and other payroll related matters;
Provide leadership and development opportunities for staff, mentoring and coaching to team through routine staff evaluation, motivation and support; provide an atmosphere of integrity and trust;
Liaise with leadership from Human Resources, Finance and IT;
Demonstrate creative thinking and seeks alternative solutions to address challenges and issues.
Respects and maintains confidentiality of all information within NYU Langone Health;
Stay continually informed on the changing Payroll landscape. Keep up-to-date on innovations in technology and processes related to payroll operations and payroll tax;

• Identifies areas of improvement for Payroll Service Tax area to include leveraging of new and existing technology and automation.
• Keep abreast of legislative updates that affect payroll/tax regulatory compliance and provides training to staff.
• Assist with system testing software upgrades for all tax updates*
• Point of contact for accounting firm audits as required; oversees information requests.
  
  Provides project management oversight for all phases of the W2 year-end processing, including coordination to ensure year end processing is on schedule and accurate.
• Work with tax team to help manage all IRS and state agency audits for payroll, and benefits as required; assist with the reconciliation and review of all Federal, State and Local Payroll tax returns, quarterly estimates, extensions, and final returns to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports)
• Help track and reconcile payments to unions based on analysis of contractual agreements with 1199 and other unions
• Analyze weekly and monthly payment forecasts and review with Senior Director and Director of Payroll
• Analyze variances in various pay cycles through use of metrics and other analysis tools; monitor, analyze and reconcile over payments to the GL
• Perform analysis of controls within the department and review of reports for compliance with predetermined metrics
• Support external and internal audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility and help develop/refine payroll operational and accounting processes.

To qualify you must have a BA/BS in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance Accounting
2+ years combined Payroll, Accounting, & Finance related experience.
