Responsibilities
Kforce has partnered with a prestigious and globally recognized professional services organization in NYC to identify a Cash Applications Specialist for their growing Accounting team.
Summary:
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys investigative work, high-volume payment processing, reconciliations, and ensuring financial accuracy. If you have experience applying cash, researching payment discrepancies, and working with domestic and international accounts, we encourage you to apply. This is not a Collections or Billing position. This role is dedicated to cash application, payment allocation, and reconciliation activities within the Accounting department.
Responsibilities:
- Research, process, and apply a high volume of incoming payments, including checks, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and lockbox receipts
- Accurately allocate payments across domestic, international, corporate, and client accounts
- Perform daily ACH and lockbox reconciliations
- Review and correct lockbox allocations to ensure accurate payment application
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and misapplied cash transactions
- Process write-offs, adjustments, and client refunds in accordance with company policies
- Prepare and distribute daily cash collection and financial reporting for senior finance leadership
- Collaborate with accounting, billing, and collections teams regarding payment-related inquiries
- Reconcile cash activity and supporting schedules to the general ledger
- Maintain a high level of accuracy while managing significant transaction volume
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Cash Applications, Accounts Receivable, or ---Corporate Accounting
- Experience processing ACH payments, wire transfers, lockbox transactions, and checks
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to research and resolve payment allocation issues independently
- Advanced attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional services, legal, consulting, or corporate accounting environment
- Exposure to domestic and international accounting operations
- High-volume transaction processing and cash management activities
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

- Salaried personnel receive paid time off.
- Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
- Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
