The Opportunity
We are partnering with one of the Top 150 public accounting firms that is looking to add a Senior Audit Associate to its assurance team. This role will be for one of their offices in the Latham, New York area.
This opportunity is ideal for an audit professional who has built a strong foundation in public accounting and is ready to take greater ownership of engagements, strengthen client relationships, and begin mentoring junior team members.
You’ll join a collaborative environment where professional development is strongly encouraged and where you’ll have exposure to a diverse client base while working closely with experienced managers and partners.
What You’ll Be DoingAs a Senior Audit Associate, you will take increased responsibility throughout the audit and assurance engagement lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of audit fieldwork and helping drive engagements through completion
- Developing an understanding of clients' businesses, operations, and accounting environments
- Preparing and reviewing audit work papers and supporting financial statement engagements
- Identifying potential accounting, audit, risk, or engagement issues and escalating them appropriately
- Communicating directly with clients throughout engagements and responding to routine questions
- Working closely with managers and partners to ensure engagements remain on schedule
- Delegating appropriate work to junior team members and monitoring completion
- Providing coaching, guidance, and real-time feedback to developing staff
- Building your technical knowledge of GAAP, FASB guidance, OCBOA, financial statement presentation, and applicable professional standards
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism, accuracy, and client confidentiality
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3+ years of public accounting experience
- Strong audit/assurance experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively within engagement teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable interacting directly with clients
- CPA certification or progress toward the CPA is preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of professional accounting and assurance standards
Base Salary: $70,000-$90,000
, depending on experience.
