The Cyperus Group, a New York City staffing agency specializing in Accounting, Finance, Administrative, and Legal recruiting, is partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment. We are seeking individuals who thrive in a collaborative setting and have a strong understanding of accounts payable processes.

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and timely.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
• Review and verify invoices for proper approvals and coding.
• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
• Maintain vendor files and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and accruals.
• Ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate grants, programs, and department budgets when applicable.
• Monitor compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
• Assist with annual audits by providing supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and filing systems.
• Collaborate with accounting and finance team members on special projects and process improvements.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience.
• Experience working in a nonprofit organization is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary range: $55,000 - $60,000

Hourly equivalent: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
