College Assistant
College Assistant for various departments at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). The role is part‑time (up to 20 hours per week) and focuses on supporting college operations through clerical, administrative, and research duties under supervision.
General Duties- Perform miscellaneous clerical and administrative work related to college operations.
- Answer and attend telephone calls, screen visitors, and take detailed messages.
- File, organize, scan documents, and maintain office and web accounts.
- Operate office machines (copiers, scanners, faxes, and computers) and perform data entry.
- Assist with statistical or research activities, including collecting, compiling, coding, and entering data for computer reports.
- Sort and distribute mail, act as a messenger, and manage office mailboxes.
- Enter and maintain departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules.
- Draft communications, letters, or memorandums.
- Assist with initiatives, projects, and event planning.
- Provide general administrative support, including front‑desk coverage and responding to routine questions from students and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated sufficient skills to perform the duties listed above.
Hourly rate: $18.54 (commensurate with education and work experience). This is a part‑time position of up to 20 hours per week. Evening hours may be required.
