About Float Studio

Float Studio is a small interior architecture and design studio based in NYC. We work across workplace and commercial interiors, with a hospitality driven approach and a big focus on the details that make a space feel intentional. Our team is small, friendly, and tight. We care about doing great work without burning people out. We are looking for someone who is calm, organized, and genuinely enjoys supporting a small team.

The Role

We are looking to hire a Design Operations Coordinator to support our design team with the pieces that keep projects moving. This role is a mix of procurement support (when a project is in that phase), order tracking, pricing research, sample coordination, and help keeping design presentations clean and current.

Because we are a smaller studio, procurement is not happening across multiple projects e weeks procurement will be active and you will be in it every day. Other weeks it will be lighter and the role will lean more into keeping trackers updated, ordering samples, doing pricing research, and supporting the team with presentations and follow up.

This role is also in person for a reason. You will help with the real world pieces of procurement and installation, including receiving samples and occasional deliveries, checking items in, and supporting installation days when needed.

What you will do

Procurement support

  • Request quotes, confirm lead times, confirm sizing and plans, and help prepare orders
  • Follow up with vendors, track confirmations, and flag issues early
  • Keep order status clear and up to date once things are in motion

Order tracking and documentation

  • Maintain our order tracker so it is accurate, current, and easy for the team to read
  • Keep links and backup documentation organized so no one is digging through inboxes

Pricing research and sourcing support

  • Pull pricing and lead times for specified items
  • Help research alternates when needed and document options clearly

Samples and materials coordination

  • Request, track, label, organize, and return samples as needed
  • Keep the process moving so decisions do not stall
  • Help keep our sample library organized over time

Deliveries and installation support

  • Help coordinate deliveries, including confirming delivery windows and access requirements
  • Receive and check in occasional deliveries and samples at the studio
  • Help document issues quickly if something arrives damaged, incorrect, or incomplete
  • Support installation days as needed, including assisting the team with punch list follow up and vendor coordination after install

Presentation support

  • Update and clean up design decks and schedules as selections evolve
  • Help keep formatting and file organization consistent across projects
What we are looking for
  • Very organized, prompt, and good at self directed follow up
  • Detail oriented, but able to prioritize and move quickly
  • Comfortable supporting multiple designers and multiple work streams
  • Design literate and excited to learn more about how projects get executed
  • Comfortable being in the details on delivery and install days and helping the team stay calm and organized
Preferred experience
  • 1 to 3 years in a design studio, architecture studio, showroom, or similar environment
  • Bachelor’s in Interior Design preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Comfortable with Google spreadsheets and presentation development in InDesign or Miro
  • Should have basic working knowledge of Revit or CAD as needed for space planning.
Requirements
  • Based in New York City and available to work in office at least 3 days per week
  • Approval to work in the US
Growth

If you can handle the core responsibilities with speed and accuracy, there is room to grow this role over time. Depending on interest and ability, additional design work can be added and the role can expand into deeper project coordination and procurement ownership.
