Part Time Library Clerk

Sachem Public Library seeks an energetic staff member who is passionate about customer service and working with children ages birth to fifth grade and their families.

• Answer telephones and provide information to patrons.
• Register patrons for programs with online software.
• Assist with special projects.
• Make reminder phone calls for children’s programs.
• Assist children with computer login.
• Assist with daily clerical tasks.

• Excellent customer service skills the and ability to interact with patrons.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• The ability to work well with others and be a team player.
• Strong time management skills and self-motivation.
• The ability to follow instructions and be detail-oriented.
• Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• A proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Canva is preferred but not required.
• The willingness to support the library’s sustainability goals.

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be available Wednesday evenings, as well as one morning and one afternoon per week, which is flexible. Weekends are required in rotation for a total of 17.5 hours weekly. Flexibility is a plus. Salary starts at $17.50 per hour.
