Location: New York

The Lease Renewal Specialist s responsible for overseeing lease renewal and rent registration services within the Compliance Department. This role manages high-volume workflows across multiple clients and affordable-housing tenants, ensuring full compliance with New York City rent stabilization, rent registration, and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage lease renewal processes for multiple clients and accurately track progress using internal dashboards and systems
  • Ensure all renewal timelines are met in accordance with New York City regulatory guidelines
  • Communicate daily with tenants to facilitate timely lease execution
  • Assist subsidy recipients by providing required information for voucher and subsidy renewals
  • Coordinate with housing assistance case managers and agencies, including NYCHA Section 8, HPD Section 8, and HRA
  • Prepare and submit annual rent registrations through the ORRA system
  • Advise clients on permissible rent increases under applicable regulations
  • Respond to client and tenant inquiries regarding leases, renewals, and compliance processes
  • Prepare rent-stabilized leases and schedule lease signings using internal and external software platforms
  • Coordinate with re-rentals and vacancy teams to ensure alignment on unit status
  • Communicate with landlord clients to deliver reports and obtain countersigned leases
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support compliance operations

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage complex, high-volume workflows
  • Solid understanding of New York rent stabilization and rent registration requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
  • Learning agility, resourcefulness, and a results-driven mindset
  • Passion for New York real estate and housing compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
