Olami Manhattan, the leading hub for Jewish young professionals in the West Village, is hiring an individual to join our facilities staff on our event team. This position is to support the event team on putting on our weekly programs, ensure a clean and efficient center, and put on our special events (monthly networking dinners, Jewish holiday events, occasional community shabbats, annual gala).
Logistics & Setup:
Preparing center, moving furniture, implementing decor and setting up spaces for programs and events. Receive catering orders and set up buffet style. Tear down and reset room post event.
Cleaning & Janitorial:
Maintaining cleanliness in the offices, common areas, kitchen and restrooms of the center, including sweeping, mopping, and waste removal.
Administrative Duties: managing inventory of supplies and letting management know when we are running low on any supplies
Maintenance & Repairs:
Performing small repairs in center when needed
- Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform labor-intensive tasks. - Communication:
Interpersonal skills to work with staff and management. - Problem-Solving:
Ability to respond quickly to last minute mishaps and repair emergencies.
- Must be able to work in diverse environments (our main center, occasionally larger office building where our storage room is located, and the occasional offsite event).
- Ability to work flexible and later hours, as most of our events start around 6pm
- Ability to work on a part time basis, approximately 20+- hours a week
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting is often required.
Previous experience in a facilities/hospitality role, not required but highly recommended
CompensationAn hourly rate of $17-$20, commensurate with experience
