Organization Overview
The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
OverviewThe CBC Administrative Assistant plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the CBC vivarium program. The right candidate will assist with census activities, database updates, scheduling, and inventory coordination to help keep facility operations running smoothly. This role also serves as a front-facing resource for investigators and staff, helping to troubleshoot and resolve everyday operational needs.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Front Desk and Investigator Support
- Serves in a front-facing role, providing problem-solving assistance to investigators at the CBC front desk
- Addresses operational, scheduling, and basic billing or service inquiries as needed
Census and Operational Support
- Utilizes Tick@Lab for cage card preparation
- Conducts routine census floor scans to support operational oversight and accuracy
- Performs basic database management, data verification, and troubleshooting
- Supports environmental testing activities in accordance with facility standards
Inventory and Supply Support
- Provides minor support for inventory organization and supply management
- Coordinates communication for research receiving, including animal arrivals
- Assists with supply needs, including PPE and general operational materials
Scheduling & Team Support and Coverage
- Schedules and coordinates procedure room bookings on behalf of investigators and staff
- Provides backup support for designated team members to ensure continuity of operations
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail across all assigned tasks
Other job duties will be assigned as needed by management
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to support investigators and staff in a front-facing role
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Experience using Tick@Lab for census management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in administrative, customer service, or operational support roles
- Previous exposure to laboratory, research, or vivarium environments
- Experience with scheduling, inventory, or supply coordination

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Compensation Range: Minimum USD $42,500.00/Yr.;
Maximum USD $45,000.00/Yr.
