GENERAL DUTIES- Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a college or other unit where such work is required on a part‑time basis or for a period of limited duration.
- Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year.
- Performs routine clerical work such as answering phone calls, maintaining records, operating office machines (copy, fax), sorting and distributing mail, issuing keys and identity cards, acting as messenger, and other related tasks.
- Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
- Acts as cashier.
- Assists in statistical or research activities: collects and compiles data, codes data for computer entry, performs data entry, and runs computer reports.
- Performs clerical library work: sorting and shelving books, data entry into library systems, binding books and periodicals.
- Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in reading, mathematics, speech and hearing therapy, providing musical accompaniment, and distributing/collecting physical education equipment.
- Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control, rosters, directories, and schedules.
- Operates computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment as required.
College Assistant is a part‑time role for 1040 hours per year (20 hours per week). The position reports to the Development Officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement and Communications. The incumbent will work hybrid – on site and remotely – as required by CUNY.
DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)- Create, write, and execute email communications for alumni constituents and other donor groups through communication and giving platforms (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Give Gab, etc.).
- Research and confirm alumni data using online media tools (Google, Linked In, Facebook, and other social media websites) and research software (iWave, Lexis Nexis).
- Compile alumni profiles and update alumni biographical and contact information in Raiser’s Edge and code records accordingly.
- Assist with reporting to academic departments, centers, and institutes.
- Assist with annual appeal efforts (review mail merge, format letters, prepare stationery for mailing).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.
$20 per hour
