Overview
The Client Services Assistant will help Norton and our distributed client publishers bring to market hundreds of titles per year across categories such as literary fiction, art, comics, cookbooks, nonfiction, poetry, and children s books. This role involves working with Norton s client publishers and internal teams to learn about many aspects of publishing and selling books. The position is fast-paced and requires keen attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and creative problem-solving.
The Assistant supports Norton s Client Services department and facilitates collaboration between Norton and our client publishers. The role values autonomous creative and strategic thinking that demonstrates leadership and vision and helps strengthen the department.
The Assistant reports to the Client Services Director and works closely with the Client Services Coordinator.
Professional Responsibilities- Support the Client Services team by liaising with client publishers and the sales department to ensure the needs and expectations of client publishers are met
- Support the Client Services team in all aspects of client publishers title data management
- Draft and share seasonal schedules
- Schedule and attend seasonal launches and sales conference presentations
- Oversee seasonal new title setup in the proprietary title data management system and ensure title data submissions meet deadlines and requirements
- Manage seasonal Edelweiss catalogs and optimize sales and marketing materials for sell-in
- Collaborate with the metadata team to troubleshoot and resolve metadata issues
- Compile and share client publisher title data changes internally
- Collaborate with the sales department to share galleys, digital ARCs, and other sales materials on behalf of client publishers
- Assist with all aspects of new publisher onboarding
- Maintain the office library of book samples

- Prior publishing, bookselling, or book industry experience preferred
- Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the U.S. is required
- Must be able to work from Norton s New York City headquarters. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote
- Annual compensation for this position is $48,000. Salaries may vary based on experience, skills, location, and other considerations.
