Position Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Secretary of the Board of Fellows, this position requires a leader who will plan, develop and execute all governance activities for Weill Cornell Medicine’s General (GFC) and Executive (EFC) Faculty Councils.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage annual calendar of meetings, agenda planning and speakers with senior faculty leadership for GFC (monthly) and EFC (quarterly) meetings.
  • Manage meeting materials and storage of records (agendas, minutes, and presentation materials) for both councils.
  • Handle logistical elements for all meetings, including service as the liaison with Event Services (identify venues, arrange AV services for hybrid meetings, and work with caterers when necessary).
  • Conduct and streamline the annual General Faculty Council election process, including faculty communications, coordinating online voting through survey software, and tracking EFC seats on the PO Policy Board and EFC representatives to the GFC.
  • Manage access, security and quality assurance for the Wiki database or equivalent for items requiring faculty review and information.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Office of the Secretary when seeking approval from the Board of Fellows, i.e., Committee of Review, Academic Staff Handbook, etc.
  • Manage full-time faculty and voluntary faculty listservs, ensuring membership is up to date and ready for the annual elections for the Voluntary and Full-Time Faculty Fellow seats.
  • Manage EFC listserv, ensuring membership is kept up to date.
  • Maintain and update GFC and EFC webpages.
  • Provide additional support to Office of the Secretary as assigned by the Deputy Secretary for the Faculty Councils or other Governance matters within the department.
  • Provide additional support to the Office of Faculty as assigned by the Deputy Secretary.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in higher education, including working closely with faculty leadership.
  • Systems and process improvement experience.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Adept at independent business writing with small and large group communications.
  • Comfortable acquiring knowledge/skills needed to advance workload efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Intuitive, action-oriented/results driven.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management and desktop publishing programs (Acrobat Professional), etc.
  • Proven track record of planning, organizing and managing executive high-level events/meetings and associated communications and materials.

  • Work assignments may necessitate occasional evening or early morning hours.
