Training Coordinator (Part-Time)

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City's evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed at moving the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. NYC DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, volunteers, and people in custody. Most importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities.

NYC DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledge experts. The Division of Training and Development encompasses the Correction Academy, the Firearms & Tactical Unit, the Professional Development Unit, and the Training Compliance & Tracking Unit. The Professional Development Unit is seeking to recruit two Part Time Training Coordinators in the Staff Analyst title to provide direct support to the Director of Professional Development through liaising with senior management and staff to disseminate information concerning requests for training, including special requests/customized training.

The Training Coordinator's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Data entry using Microsoft Office Suite Tools;
  • Compiling data for analysis to strategically allocate training resources;
  • Reporting data to oversight agencies for compliance with local, state, and federal mandates;
  • Generating reports for review to manage and maintain training completions;
  • Maintaining professional relations with Departmental stakeholders to disseminate information and persuade action;
  • Clerical and administrative support for the Professional Development Unit as assigned;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Perform general office functions and related duties as assigned.
