Note that this is an administrative position and not a legal role.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of New York County Lawyers Association’s Part 137 Attorney-Client Fee Dispute Resolution Program.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Processing new case filings
- Coordinating the virtual hearing process via Zoom for pending matters.
- Answering inquiries about the fee dispute process.
- Scheduling arbitration hearings and mediation sessions.
- Serve as main contact between NYCLA’s program, members of the public, and the program’s mediators and arbitrators.
- Coordinate with program administrators of other jurisdictions for case transfers.
- Maintain the program neutral roster internally and through OCA’s mandatory case management system.
- Maintain the NYCLA specific case management system and ensure proper data retention in accordance with NYCLA policy.
- Issuing award letters.
- Serves as a liaison between NYCLA and the OCA Part 137 Board of Governors and Counsel’s Office, as appropriate.
- Updates training materials in collaboration with program faculty, when NYCLA is preparing to host a Part 137 training on behalf of OCA; serve as program faculty when appropriate.
- Periodically review NYCLA’s program materials for necessary updates.
- Periodically assess NYCLA’s case processing for improvements.
- Prepare informational materials for members of the public and arbitrators/mediators, to help them better understand the process.
- Participate in ADR panels regarding the Part 137 Program, serving as an ambassador for NYCLA.
- Collaborate with NYCLA employees as needed to administer the Fee Dispute Program.
28 hours per week; hybrid work schedule; two days required in-office.
Salary:$25.00/hour

- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience demonstrating excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, effective multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities, and strong time management skills.
- Strong personal work ethic and ability to adapt.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Collegial personality and ability to work cooperatively with a diverse team of professionals.
- Self-motivated, works well under pressure, and ability to handle several projects at one time.
