Position: Secretary (UC Civil Service Title, Typist)
Location: Accord

The Rondout Valley Central School District is seeking highly organized, detail-oriented clerical support at Rondout Valley Middle School.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and time-management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the discretion necessary to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive student and family information.

This positionfallsunder the Ulster County Civil Service Title, Typist, andis designated as a NY HELPS position. Under this program, qualified candidates may be appointed without participation in a competitive civil service examination, provided minimum qualifications are met.

All Civil Service laws, rules and regulations apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Ulster County Department of Personnel for the applicable civil service title.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Previous clerical, office, or customer-service experience;
  • Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures;
  • Proficiency with computers, email, word processing, and data-entry systems;
  • Ability to communicate professionally with staff, students, families, and members of the public;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare disciplinary referral letters, correspondence, reports, forms, and related documentation.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate disciplinary, referral, and student records.
  • Communicate routine information to families regarding disciplinary meetings, notices, and follow-up.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain accurate calendars.
  • Answer phones and emails, provide routine information, take messages, and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Serve as a receptionist and assist students, families, staff, and visitors.
  • File, copy, scan, organize, and distribute records and office materials.
  • Use district computer systems and office software to perform data-entry and clerical duties.
  • Prepare routine reports, lists, and summaries.
  • Provide clerical support for state testing, including preparing materials, maintaining records, and assisting with scheduling.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and disciplinary information.
  • Perform other related clerical duties as assigned.

Salary:36,695—$38,664
Work Schedule:Full-time, 12 months,Monday-Friday, 8am-4pmduring the school year. Summer hours are Monday–Thursday, flexible full-time+ shift and Fridays off.
