Special Projects Assistant to the Dean (aHEO)
POSITION DETAILSThe School of Education (SoE) at The City College of New York (CCNY) seeks a Special Projects Assistant to the Dean to provide support to various SoE offices and program directors. The Special Projects Assistant to the Dean will report to the Dean and the SoE Office of Finance and Operations Director. The Special Projects Assistant is responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Assist the Deputy Dean on matters related to accreditation, including the collection and management of data, communication with various stakeholders, and the coordination of alumni and advisory council events.
- Assist the chairs on matters such as communication with various stakeholders, the coordination of department and adjunct faculty meetings, and scheduling of courses.
- Support program directors by co-coordinating the admissions process.
- Coordinate orientation sessions for new admits, assist with grad checks, and digitizing and updating program planning sheets.
- Assist the Dean, the Deputy Dean, and the chairs with other projects, as needed.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:- Administrative or project coordination experience, ideally in a higher education setting.
- Experience working effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
- Experience supporting operations such as meeting coordination, course scheduling, and accreditation reporting.
- Experience handling confidential matters and materials
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, computer, and computational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort with data tracking or reporting tools.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.
Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.
Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
May supervise office staff and student workers.
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSSalary Range: $59,444 - $63,003. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
